Faith Formation for All Ages: An Update from Christian Education

When I was called to serve as your Associate Pastor, I became the pastoral liaison to Christian Education. Together with our elders and Melody Dillon, our Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministry, we began the work of shaping the Christian Education Committee so that every age—from the very youngest to the very wisest among us—would be nurtured and equipped for a life of faith.

And that work is taking shape.

Children and Family Ministry

Melody Dillon and Elders Megan Davis and Kelly Kirkpatrick formed the Children and Family Ministry Subcommittee, bringing energy and vision to the faith formation of our youngest members and their families. Though Kelly rotated off the Session this year, she will continue to share her wisdom and experience. We are excited to welcome Elder Copper Perry to this ministry and to experience the ways God will use her gifts to help children and families flourish.

Youth Ministry

Elder JD Due and Melody are organizing a Youth Subcommittee to support youth Sunday School, WPC Youth Fellowship, retreats, and other opportunities for spiritual growth. This group will include our WM interns, Sunday School and Youth Fellowship volunteers, a youth representative, and others who are passionate about helping young people grow in faith and community.

A New Opportunity in Adult Faith Formation

Now, Elder Mary Margaret Evans and Pastor Pam are helping to launch an Adult Christian Education Subcommittee—and we want you to be part of it.

No special credentials are required—just a heart for deepening your own faith and a curiosity about how we might help others do the same. Together, this group will think creatively about what Christian formation can look like for adults at every stage of life.

Sunday School is a beloved cornerstone of our congregation, and we want to build on that strong foundation. We hope to explore possibilities such as small groups, book studies, retreat opportunities, spiritual practices, and more. We're especially eager to develop meaningful opportunities for young adults and for parents navigating the joys and challenges of raising children in the faith.

An Invitation to Help Shape What's Next

This is an invitation to help shape something that doesn't fully exist yet—and that's part of the excitement.

If you feel a nudge, pay attention to it. Reach out to Elder Mary Margaret Evans or speak with Pastor Pam to learn more or express your interest. We'll gather for an initial conversation soon and see where the Spirit leads. It is a gift to have fresh voices and hearts at the table.

Faith grows best when we grow it together. Come be part of the community that makes it happen.

Pastor Pam
