Presbyterian Women (PW) is the women’s organization of the Presbyterian Church (USA)
PW Purpose
Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study, support the mission of the church worldwide, work for justice and peace, and build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom.
At Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, major PW programs and activities include:
- Circles—small groups meet monthly for Bible study and fellowship (see below)
- Fall Thank Offering and Spring Birthday Offering programs, proceeds donated to the PC(USA) Presbyterian Mission Agency
- Gift of Christmas program highlights local needs, donations support 20 worthy charities
- WPC Book Club meets every 4th Monday, 2 PM, varied selections and lively discussion
- Local Mission Luncheon—annual event raises awareness and funds for a local charity
- Fluvanna Women’s Prison--provides personal care items to cheer women inmates
- Chajul, Guatemala Mission—gives direct support to the school and its students
- PW Coordinating Team--Officers, Program Chairs, and Circle Moderators meet monthly
What is a Circle and How Do I Learn More?
- At WPC, Circles meet together monthly and also support PW programs and missions.
- Circles meet September-May, and use PC (U.S.A.) Horizons Bible study guides.
- Circles help members feel comfortable, connected, and supported in our large church.
- Belonging to a Circle is a great way to strengthen your faith and spiritual life, meet new women and develop lasting friendships, become a leader, and support worthy causes.
- Circles vary–find one most comfortable and convenient for your schedule and location.
