The Forgotten Epistles (James, John, Peter): What do they say to us living in the 21st century?
When is the last time you’ve read those short little books at the end of the New Testament, written by James, John, and Peter? Do you know who the James, John, and Peter were who wrote these books, and who they were writing to? Have you struggled to understand what James meant by “so faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead”? Or are you comforted by Peter’s words to “maintain constant love for another, for love covers a multitude of sins”? But best of all you’ll hear the wonderful message that God is love, through the words of John.
Join the Fellowship Class this fall on Sunday mornings at 9:30am in Room LL009, as together we delve deeply into what these words mean for us today, and how we can apply them in our daily lives. Be prepared for a lively discussion facilitated by a team of experienced teachers.
The Soul of Israel: An Old Testament Exploration
Ever wonder what happened to the Israelites after wandering in the wilderness for 40 years and finally settling in the Promised Land? Guided by the Bible texts of Joshua, Judges, and 1st & 2nd Samuel, we will look at how the Israelites occupied the Promised land, learned to live no longer as slaves, and grew in their relationship with the Lord – much of this with mixed success.
Join the Present Word Class on Sundays at 9:30am in room LL011 to learn more.
Faith Meets the Issues of the Day
Join us as we explore the connections between faith and the issues shaping our world today. Through respectful conversation and shared learning, we contemplate how Christian faith informs faithful living. You are invited to join the Thoughtful Christian Class on Sundays at 9:30am in room LL010.
What is a Covenant?
Often when something new is beginning there is a time when all parties work on an agreement, such as a contract. So, as the new program year begins The Squares will look at the very beginning of our faith story and consider a “covenant.” What is a covenant and why is a covenant important? While considering Genesis 17:1-8, we’ll ask what happened then, and how does that same thing happen to us today? You are invited to join The Squares on the first Thursday of the month at 7:00pm in room 227.
Invitation to John: “Come and See” (John 1:39)
Join us as we explore the Gospel of John in an 11-week study (through Dec. 1). Learn how John’s gospel differs from the synoptic gospels and is often described as the spiritual gospel. The class will use Invitation to John, a short-term Disciple Study with a participant study book, leader guide, and video presentation. The focus is on encountering, examining, and interpreting God’s Word in a small group setting, which invites discussion and fosters fellowship. The Tuesday Bible Study group meets on Tuesdays in Room 220 from 10-11:30am.

United through Christ, Bound to Each Other: Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians
Paul wrote at a time when Christians expected Jesus’ imminent return; he challenged his friends to be ready when that day came. Two thousand years later, the church is still waiting, still affirming that Jesus will return, and still proclaiming that this world has already been transformed by God’s life-giving love. Our challenge remains to live in ways that demonstrate our trust in the resurrection.
Join one of the 8 Presbyterian Women’s Circles as we contemplate the answers to questions asked so long ago. How can our lives demonstrate our trust in Jesus Christ’s victory over death? What do we do when different understandings of the gospel undermine church unity? How can Christians understand gender and sexuality? When conflict arises, how do we deal with it? Details on the various meeting days and times can be found in the Daily Opportunities section of this page.
