Presbyterian Women

Presbyterian Women (PW) is the women’s organization of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. (PCUSA). At Williamsburg Presbyterian Church (WPC), PW is a large, active, and diverse group. All women are warmly welcomed to participate in any and all activities. We are committed to putting our faith into action according to the PW Purpose:
  • Nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study
  • Support the mission of the church worldwide
  • Work for justice and peace
  • Develop leaders
  • Build an inclusive and caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witnesses to the promise of God’s Kingdom.

PW Circles

Many, but not all, PW activities occur within PW Circles. You are invited but not required to join a Circle to serve as a PW leader or be involved in any way!

PW Circles are small groups of 8-20 women who meet September-June to engage in Bible Study, support missions, and develop bonds of friendship. Eight unique Circles offer a choice of meeting times, dates, locations, and formats (including hybrid Zoom). Find descriptions of the Circles and meeting times here.

Gini Campbell, Membership Chair, can introduce you to the Circles and help you choose one that's most comfortable and convenient for you. Contact Gini via the WPC online directory or by calling the church office at 757-229-4235.

NURTURE FAITH

Nurturing our faith through prayer and Bible Study is foundational to our purpose and facilitated within the Circles using PC (USA) Horizons Bible Study Guides.
Our 2026–27 study, United Through Christ, Bound to Each Other: Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians, is authored by Rhonda Mawhood Lee, with Suggestions for Leaders by Sarah Leer. Study Guides are provided to Circle members at no charge.
The study begins in September, but new members may join at any time. Contact Gini Campbell, Membership Chair, for more information and personal guidance on finding the Circle that best fits your needs and preferences.

MISSIONS

Led by the Spirit, Presbyterian Women missions open our eyes and hearts to the needs of people near and far, providing meaningful opportunities to care for our community and the world in the way of Jesus. PW mission efforts include:

  • Birthday Offering (Spring) and Thank Offering (Fall) Luncheons — Fellowship, inspiring programs, and special offerings that support Presbyterian Women (PCUSA) missions.
  • Gift of Christmas — A curated list of local charities that allows members to honor or remember loved ones through meaningful gifts.
  • Local Mission Luncheon — A churchwide event sponsored by PW that raises awareness and financial support for a selected community agency each year.
  • Kitchen Committee — Caring for the WPC kitchen to ensure it remains welcoming, well-equipped, and ready to nourish body and soul through hospitality and community meals.
  • Fluvanna Women's Correctional Center — Providing hygiene kits and handmade greeting cards to encourage and support incarcerated women.
  • Chajul, Guatemala — Supporting student scholarships and school supplies through our long-standing partnership.

PW members also work alongside many WPC ministries and community organizations, sharing their time and talents to feed the hungry, support the homeless, tutor children, promote literacy, provide Christian education, comfort those in need, and serve the church worldwide. Whether you're wielding a hammer, preparing a meal, delivering flowers, knitting prayer shawls, making music, or offering a listening ear, you'll find yourself serving alongside other Presbyterian Women.

Build Community

Find friendship, encouragement, and a place to belong.

Presbyterian Women offers countless opportunities to connect with others through Circles, luncheons, leadership teams, committees, and special events. Whether you're looking for deeper friendships, meaningful service, spiritual growth, or simply a welcoming group of women to share life with, you'll find opportunities to connect.

Circles provide a supportive small-group setting where women grow in faith together, build lasting relationships, and care for one another through life's joys and challenges. PW Luncheons bring women—and often men—together for fellowship, inspiration, and the chance to meet new friends from across the church family.

PW Missions

Lead and Serve with Presbyterian Women

Share your gifts, grow in faith, and help shape the future of PW.

Presbyterian Women thrives through the gifts, ideas, experiences, and leadership of women in every season of life. Whether you have served in leadership before or are looking for a new way to get involved, there is a place for you.

The Presbyterian Women Coordinating Team (PWCT)—comprised of Officers, Program Chairs, and Circle Moderators—meets monthly from August through May to provide direction, support ministries, and coordinate the work of PW within the larger mission of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church.

New leaders and volunteers are always welcome. Opportunities range from serving on committees and work groups to helping with hospitality, communications, programs, missions, and special events. Many roles are flexible, short-term, or can be completed from home. Training, mentoring, and encouragement are available every step of the way.

To learn more, contact one of our coordinating team leaders below via the online church directory, or call the church office at 757-229-4235.
