Older Adults Resource Room

August 21, 2026

Something new is taking shape in Room 123! Thanks to the support of Session, the painting and carpentry talents of our Facilities Ministry volunteers, and funding from a WPC Endowment grant, this first-floor meeting room is being transformed into a welcoming and functional Older Adults Resource Room.

Resources for Aging Well

An initiative of WPC’s Aging on Purpose ministry, the Resource Room will provide a comfortable place to explore information and resources on aging well. Located on the first floor, directly across from the Children’s Nursery, the room will bring educational materials and information about government and nonprofit resources together in one easy-to-access location.

The Resource Room will begin with a growing collection designed to help WPC members and friends learn, plan, and prepare for the opportunities and challenges that can come with aging. Topics will include lifestyle and housing options, health and safety, financial and legal matters, personal support, in-home care, and more.

Browse on Your Own—or Ask for Help

Visitors will be welcome to browse independently whenever the room is not otherwise in use. Beginning October 1, those who would like more personalized assistance may also make an appointment with a trained Resource Guide, who can help narrow the search and connect visitors with relevant information and resources.

To learn more or make an appointment, call the church office at 757-229-4235.

Come See What’s New!

Everyone is invited to the Older Adults Resource Room Launch on Sunday, September 27, at noon. Join us to explore the new space, learn more about the resources available, and discover how the Aging on Purpose ministry hopes the room can serve our church community.

Watch upcoming worship bulletins and Looking Ahead emails for more details.
