Children, Family, and Youth: Ready for Fall after a Fun Summer!

August 21, 2026

A Busy and Faith-Filled Summer

The Children, Family, and Youth Ministry of WPC had a busy and faith-filled summer! Camps, conferences, and community events made for a full summer of learning, serving, playing, worshiping, making new friends, and growing in faith.

The summer began in June with the Massanetta Middle School Conference, where four students learned about the peace of Christ, played games, sang energizers, and worshiped with over one hundred other middle schoolers.

Also in June was Vacation Bible School! Around 30 children attended VBS, led by over a dozen incredible youth and adults who volunteered their time and invested in the lives of the youngest among us.

Then in July, six high schoolers went to the Montreat Youth Conference where they wondered about their faith and wandered the beautiful surroundings of Black Mountain. The students enjoyed digging deep into their faith, asking hard questions, and building connections with other youth groups from around the country.

Plus, WPC also hosted dance camps for children with disabilities, Playground Church with our youngest members, and Weekly Wondering with the whole congregation. To everyone who helped support any of these events by giving their time, energy, creativity, and love, THANK YOU!

Jumping Into Fall

And now, after an exciting summer, we are jumping right into our fall schedule! We are so excited for the Blessing of the Backpacks and Community Back-to-School Bash this week on August 23. Then, Rally Day on August 30 marks the start of Sunday School for children and youth of all ages. Parents of elementary students are invited to stick around on the 30th for a special intergenerational lesson for everyone!

There are tons more exciting events coming up—Trunk or Treat, Playground Church, Kids Connect, service projects, and more! We can’t wait to see what the Spirit has in store for the year ahead!
