Rise Against Hunger a Great Success!

November 18, 2022

You have heard about our Rise Against Hunger food packaging event.  On Saturday, October 22, we rose against hunger and stood tall.  Williamsburg Presbyterian church exceeded our goal by packaging 30,028 meals with 191 volunteers (126 from our congregation, plus others from five additional churches and organizations, and even 43 people who just showed up).  Some of those volunteers were as young as 4 years old – we are not reporting the age of the oldest ones.

And that’s not all!  We needed $12,000 to pay for the food, and at this point we’ve exceeded that goal by about $500.  By the way, any money over our goal will go to next year so we can do it again – so, let’s all look forward to that.

"Thank you” goes to the team which put this event together: they are Gary Davis, Jay Hardy, Greg Walton and Jim Kirkpatrick, with special help from Hans Schwartz and Leslie Stacks. We are thankful that somewhere in the world someone in great need will have a meal or two because of our service.
