Learning, Growing, and Living God's Word
The mission of the Fellowship Class is threefold: to deepen our understanding of the Bible; to grow in relationship with Jesus Christ and with one another; and to live as committed disciples, following closely the teachings of Jesus.
The Fellowship Class meets on Sunday mornings at 9:30 in Room 009 on the lower level. Participants include people of all ages, from college students to retirees, both singles and couples. We warmly invite all who wish to join in a journey of spiritual growth.
Our Studies
Our studies typically alternate between the Old and New Testaments, using the New International Version. NRSV Bibles are also available in the classroom. In past years, we have studied the Gospels; the lives of Joseph, David, and Abraham; the Acts of the Apostles; and the Letters of Paul (explored in the order Paul wrote them). Teachers highlight how the culture and customs of biblical times connect with the culture and customs of today.
Each lesson stands alone, and a scripture schedule is provided so participants know the passage in advance. The format blends lecture and discussion, with questions designed to expand our thinking about the spiritual truths found in Scripture. This approach allows us to learn not only from the Bible and our teachers, but also from one another’s insights.
Our Teachers
Sunday morning Bible study is led by Joe Avellar, Rob Brown, Keith Griffioen, Martha Jean Howell, Larry Pulley, Louis Weeks, and Ken Crumbly. From time to time, guest teachers also join us to provide perspective on our current study.
