Be a Part of History
Organized in 1776, the historic First Baptist Church of Williamsburg is as old as this country. From its humble beginnings in the brush arbor to its current location on Scotland Street, the church has been a witness to America’s founding and its growth; and the role of the Black community. The story of First Baptist Church is extensive and its influence is far-reaching. Descendants of today have been hard at work to uncover the story that was buried for many years. Now, they need you to help tell the story of First Baptist Church and the church community.
Help First Baptist Church Tell Their 250-year Story
Our neighbor church, The Historic First Baptist Church of Williamsburg, is gearing up for a busy celebration of the 250th anniversary of our country. They are expecting that many people will want to visit one of the first churches for enslaved and free blacks in the country, established in 1776. They are looking for volunteers from area churches to serve as greeters in 2026. The tour schedule will be every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10:00am to 2:00pm. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the church office.
You may also send an email to Email the Church Office with your name, phone number, and email address, to be added to the list.
If you have any questions, please speak with Pastor John.
