Love working with school-age children? Have experience as a teacher, parent or grandparent? We have an opportunity for you!
The Christian Education Ministry invites everyone to be part of a new opportunity to support our WPC children, parents, and families during scheduled teacher workdays for WJCC and York County schools. This mission–the WPC Kid Connection Day Camp–is brand new, and we need the help of caring adult volunteers to make it happen.
First, Some Background
When our public school teachers have scheduled work days, the students have one-day student holidays. On these days throughout the school year, WPC has an opportunity to provide a loving, safe, fun and meaningful day for our school-age children, and relief for working parents who scramble to find care. The idea of a new "Student Holiday Day Camp” was born, aligning beautifully with our promises as a congregation at baptism to support our families in guiding and nurturing all children of the church, and setting an example for them as Christ in the world.
What are the specifics?
Dates of WJCC and York County School Holidays:
November 7 • January 26 • March 5
Times: 9am - 4pm
For students ages Kindergarten to 5th Grade.
Volunteers
We are looking for adult volunteers to support our students with supervised activities similar to our Vacation Bible School stations. No curriculum or activity development is required. Spending time with the kids and supervising the activities provided will be a wonderful gift. This is a pilot program, and we hope you can help us to develop it into a growing and vibrant mission with your time and talents. Timing is either all day, or in two overlapping shifts (9am - 1pm, 12pm - 4pm). Lunch will be provided.
Parents and Students
The cost for the day is $15/student with a $40 cap per family, lunch included. Payment will be collected at drop-off on the day of the event. Please use the form below to register for any or all of the dates. Please note that registration is currently limited to Williamsburg Presbyterian Church families and friends. All other registrations received will be placed on hold, pending arrangement for the appropriate numbers of adult volunteers.
