Kairos Prison Ministry: Cookies Needed!

May 02, 2025

Cookies Will Support June Prison Ministry Program

WPC members Michael Smith and C.W. Stacks will join 25 other men from churches throughout eastern Virginia for a Prison Ministry program June 4-8 at the Nottoway Correctional Center. There, 36 inmates will spend four days learning about Jesus Christ and how He can change lives, even for those in prison. As part of this ministry, Michael and C.W. will distribute thousands of homemade cookies to all of the prison’s inmates, and they need your help.

Homemade Cookies Mean More Than You Know

Your homemade cookies will tell the inmates that someone who doesn’t know them cares enough to give them something — the time and effort it takes to bake cookies — without wanting something in return. Such selflessness is often a unique experience for the prisoners, and it can enable them to form trust. Most inmates in the prison system are takers, not givers. This brief experience of sharing something of value freely, often with those they do not like, can have a powerful effect.

Michael and C.W. each need to bring 100 dozen cookies, so they need cookies!

You will find Cookie Kits in the Welcome Center. Each kit has three Ziploc bags and instructions. Cookies need to conform to those instructions and be dropped off at the WPC kitchen no later than Tuesday, June 3. If you drop them off before June 3, please put them in the freezer and label your cookies “Kairos” or “Prison Ministry.”

Thank you in advance for supporting such a worthwhile ministry.
