The Present Word Class (also often called the Alpha Class) offers an opportunity for those attending to share their faith with each other and prepare for the week that is just beginning as we discuss the day's topic from the Present Word curriculum provided by the PC(USA). The lesson topics come from the Standard Uniform Lessons used by many denominations around the world. Our rotating team of leaders, as noted, emphasize discussion and sharing rather than use a lecture format.

For the coming winter quarter (December 2023 through February 2024) we will follow the curriculum named "Faith That Pleases God." The weekly lessons are centered around Bible texts that give us examples of faith shown by various people over the centuries. For example, in December, particularly for Advent and Christmas, we will examine stories about individuals who (mostly) are later seen to be members of Jesus' own family. Following that, in January and February our lessons will be organized around the themes of "Learning About Faith" and "The Righteous Live by Faith."

The class recently returned to a online-only format, meeting on Sunday from 9:15 AM until 10:20 AM, and using Zoom.
