We have now had two training meetings for the 2017 Guatemala Team. The 2017 trip is focused on bringing our youth into a broader understanding of our partnership, their place within the global community, and how God is moving in their lives and throughout the world. The team is made up of 9 high school youth and 4 adults. The picture above is a living sculpture of where they each feel they are at the moment in relation to each other and in relation to their own prep for the trip. We will be posting about a blog a week between now and the trip in June, each written by a different team member about what they are experiencing as we prepare for the experience.
This last meeting was focused on team roles and skills we bring as team members. It was exciting to see roles as Spiritual, Practical, Logistical, and Relational leaders fill in with those who felt a pull towards the various roles. Team members are currently reading about Guatemala's history, culture, faith, and traditions and will be sharing what they've learned at our April meeting. We also will be looking at how we will prepare for the culture shock, and start looking at logistics for the trip. We have only 100 days remaining until we leave and appreciate all the prayer we can get!
